About Christ Church

A historic church with a living faith—and a place for you

Christ Church has gathered people for worship in North Adelaide since 1849. Today we remain a living Anglican parish: rooted in Scripture and sacrament, enriched by music, and committed to thoughtful faith, pastoral care and a generous welcome.

The Reverend Stephen Bloor, Rector, and the people of Christ Church welcome you.

You are welcome here

Come as you are

You do not need to know the service, have the right words, or be certain what you believe before coming to Christ Church.

People arrive here for many reasons: to worship, to explore faith, to find stillness, to sing, to mark a significant moment, or to become part of a community. Whether church is familiar or completely new, there is room to take your next step at your own pace.

Our life together includes Sunday and weekday worship, choral music, Christian formation, activities for all ages, pastoral care and service within the wider community.

What shapes us

Worship, faith and community

Worship with depth

Our worship is reverent, prayerful and centred on Holy Communion, with the beauty of Anglican liturgy and sacred music serving a living encounter with God.

Faith that welcomes questions

We take Scripture, tradition and thoughtful learning seriously. Curiosity is welcome, and people can explore Christian faith without pressure.

Community with care

We seek to know one another, care pastorally, welcome all ages and serve our neighbours through the ordinary faithfulness of parish life.

Our Anglican identity

Ancient faith, lived today

Christ Church is the Anglican Parish of North Adelaide, part of the Diocese of Adelaide and the Anglican Church of Australia.

Our worship is shaped by the Bible, the creeds, the sacraments and the Church’s life of prayer. We value the depth of the Anglican tradition while seeking to express Christian faith with honesty, hospitality and relevance in contemporary Adelaide.

More than a landmark

A beautiful building made alive by worship

Consecrated in 1849 and once Adelaide’s pro-cathedral, Christ Church holds a remarkable place in South Australia’s story. Its architecture, stained glass, furnishings and music continue to draw people into beauty and reflection.

Yet the church is not a museum. Its deepest purpose is fulfilled whenever people gather here to pray, hear the Scriptures, share the sacraments, sing and serve.
